What is an Energy Rater? |
According to RESNET, "A Certified Home Energy Rater or Rater is a person trained and certified by an accredited Home Energy Rating Provider to inspect and evaluate a home’s energy features, prepare a home energy rating and make recommendations for improvements that will save the homeowner energy and money". |
(HERS) Home Energy Ratings Standard |
According to RESNET, a "home energy rating & audit provide a standard measurement of a home’s energy efficiency. Ratings are used for both and new and existing homes. In a new home the rating often verifies energy performance for the ENERGY STAR home program, energy efficient mortgages, and energy code compliance. Homeowners who want to upgrade the home’s energy efficiency can use the energy rating to evaluate and pinpoint specific, cost-effective improvements. For existing homes, homeowners can receive a report listing cost-effective options for improving the home’s energy rating. An energy rating allows a home buyer to easily compare the energy performance of the homes being considered". Our Michigan Energy Raters are here to help; NorthWoods Energy offers Michigan Energy Ratings, Northern Michigan Energy Ratings, and Upper Peninsula Energy Ratings. |
